Because tax matters are an integral part of doing business, our tax attorneys serve as an integral part of our clients' transactional teams. Our tax practitioners work closely with colleagues in the Corporate and Finance Departments in structuring a wide variety of complex business transactions. Global in scope, our tax group advises clients on the international cross-border aspects of their transactions and operations.
When tax controversies arise, our experienced tax litigators can help resolve the issues as favorably as possible, whether in audits, administrative appeals, or in federal and state trial and appellate courts. Our benefits and compensation attorneys provide ongoing counsel for numerous employers throughout the world, and play an important role in corporate mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, advising clients as to the benefits, compensation, releases and transfer issues involved in such transactions. Our attorneys also advise on all aspects of nonprofit corporation law and the taxation of exempt organizations, including unrelated business income, private inurement and other issues.
