International Tax Review Names Latham & Watkins "Leading US Tax Firm in Europe"May 20, 2009Latham & Watkins scooped the title "Leading US Law Firm in Europe" in International Tax Review's 2009 European Tax Awards. The judges praised Latham's Tax Department who "shone in the last year," noting the team's involvement in some of Europe's most high profile transactions and the firm's growth in Europe, most recently with the launch of a Spanish tax practice. International Tax Review highlighted Latham's work for the QIA in its acquisition of an interest in Barclays, "the first time a sovereign wealth fund had made such a significant investment in a UK bank," as well as the team's involvement in the Golden Key structured investment vehicle, the $1 billion sale of the Ersol Solar Energy and the acquisition of Hapag-Lloyd from Tui.
