September 29, 2009
Latham & Watkins' Latin American corporate, banking and project finance practices are commended in the Chambers Latin America 2010 guide. Chambers recognizes Latham's corporate practice, with the guide stating: "This sizeable team has been handling a growing volume of corporate transactions over the past couple of years and has also broadened its expertise beyond the private equity-led buyouts that originally made its name on a global scale. ... 'The team has a diverse practice that means it can work at a high level on any number of issues,' sources say." Off the firm's banking practice, Chambers notes: "This team represents a broad spectrum of clients, including banks, commercial finance lenders and leasing concerns, on matters ranging from acquisition financing to letter of credit facilities and general working capital. ... The team is praised as 'active and busy, with very high-calibre lawyers.'" Latham's project finance practice also wins praise, with Chambers noting: "This is 'a global player with a superb projects practice and a solid deal flow in Latin America.' Working out of New York and Washington, DC, the practice covers matters across Brazil, Mexico and the Caribbean."
