For the first time in more than a year, a venture capital-backed company in Silicon Valley completed an initial public offering of shares on a US stock exchange. OpenTable, Inc., a San Francisco, California-based provider of free online reservations for diners and guest management systems for restaurants, went public on May 21, 2009 through the offering of 3,000,000 shares of common stock on the Nasdaq Global Market under the symbol "OPEN" at a price of $20 per share. Latham & Watkins represented OpenTable in the transaction with a corporate team led from the firm's Silicon Valley office by partner Patrick Pohlen and associates Kathleen Wells, Connie Chen, Alvina Hsu, and David Bebb. Advice was also provided by Silicon Valley partner Joseph Yaffe and associates James Metz and Scott Dommes on compensation and benefit matters.
