Senior Workout and Restructuring Partner Joins Latham & Watkins in New York
Prominent insolvency partner brings broad creditor and debtor side experience, further strengthening Latham's bankruptcy, workout and restructuring credentials
New York, September 14, 2009…Latham & Watkins LLP1 is pleased to announce that Roger G. Schwartz has joined the firm as a partner in the Finance Department in the New York office. Schwartz brings extensive bankruptcy and workout expertise, with experience in a wide range of complex financial products and insolvency matters. In addition, Schwartz has provided legal strategy and case management for complex commercial, bankruptcy and intercreditor litigation and regulatory matters.
Schwartz joins Latham & Watkins from GE Capital, where he was most recently an Executive Counsel - Workouts & Restructurings. Prior to his role as Executive Counsel, Schwartz served as Senior Counsel in the workout and insolvency area and Director of Litigation for one of GE Capital's commercial finance units. His responsibilities at GE Capital extended to providing primary legal oversight of a multibillion dollar portfolio of bankruptcy and workout matters involving GE Capital lending commitments.

Prior to joining GE Capital, Schwartz worked in private practice for five years. He clerked for the Hon. Richard L. Nygaard of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Schwartz received a law degree from the University of Chicago in 1996.
