Richard Levy Named Office Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins’ Chicago Office

Chicago, September 16, 2009…Latham & Watkins LLP1 is pleased to announce that Richard Levy has been appointed the Office Managing Partner of the firm's Chicago office. He succeeds Stephen Bowen, who served in that position since 2000.

"Rick succeeds Steve after four years on the firm's Executive Committee, experience that will greatly assist him in his new role," said Robert M. "His legal and business acumen, strategic judgment and leadership skills make him a natural successor to Steve, who did a superb job and was instrumental to the office's growth and success. About Richard Levy
Richard Levy was previously a member of the firm's Executive Committee and Co-Chair of the Finance Department. Levy's practice has centered on representing major financial institutions, large corporate debtors, creditors' committees as well as strategic and financial sellers and buyers of financially distressed businesses in US and cross-border bankruptcies and out-of-court restructurings. He received his JD from Yale Law School in 1982, and a BA in 1977 from Amherst College.

About Stephen Bowen
Stephen Bowen was appointed Office Managing Partner of the Chicago office in 2000, and  previously served on the firm's Executive Committee and as Chair of the firm's Tax Department. He practices mainly in the area of federal income taxation. He has extensive experience in transactional and international tax matters and is consistently ranked in the top echelon of national rankings for tax practitioners. Bowen received his JD in 1972 from the University of Chicago Law School and a BA in 1968 from Wabash College.
