Faye Russell retired from the partnership in June 2014. She focused her practice on the representation of emerging growth companies, ranging from startup venture-backed to mature public companies. She has advised companies in a variety of industries, ranging from biotechnology, pharmaceutical, specialty pharmaceutical, medical device and other life science industries, to telecommunications, retail, food services, Internet, and computer software and hardware.

Ms. Russell has expertise in corporate governance issues and frequently advises boards of directors and management on these issues. She also has assisted companies in developing and executing acquisition and licensing strategies, whether in connection with the initial in-licensing of technology or complex corporate alliance or partnering transactions. In addition, she frequently advises companies on mergers and acquisitions and public and private equity and debt financings, including initial public offerings, universal shelf registration statements, 144A offerings and follow-on public and private offerings.

Ms. Russell has served on the Board of Trustees of The Salk Institute for Biological Studies, one of the world's preeminent basic research institutions. She also served on the Board of Trustees for the San Diego Public Library Foundation.

At the time of her retirement, Ms. Russell was a member of The Licensing Executives Society, a professional society with more than 5,000 members who are involved in the transfer, use, development, manufacture and marketing of intellectual property.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Russell worked in the business world for more than 10 years, serving as sales manager and special sections editor for Copley News Service, the international news service for The Copley Press, in sales and circulation for a weekly newspaper, and served as vice president for Dow Theory Letters, an international financial newsletter and web service.
