Richard Brown is a partner in the firm's London office who has wide experience in both public and private mergers and acquisitions transactions as well as both primary and secondary equity capital markets work both in the UK and internationally. He advises both issuers and underwriting banks on equity capital markets transactions. Prior to joining Latham & Watkins, Mr. Brown was a partner in the Corporate Department at an International law firm since 2003.
Mr. Brown is currently ranked in band 2 for Capital Markets: Equity in Chambers Global 2012; he is also noted as a key individual for corporate/M&A in Chambers UK 2012, he is also included as a leading individual in equity capital markets in The Legal 500 UK 2012 edition.

- Jefferies International Limited as sponsor and underwriter to Severfield-Rowen plc in connection with its £47.9 million rights issue
- J.P.Morgan and Nordea on a €260 million rights issue by Talvivaara, a Finnish-incorporated and London premium listed mining company
- Bank of America Merrill Lynch* in connection with the IPO of Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline
- Coal of Africa* in connection with its proposed listing on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange and placings to institutional investors
- JPMorgan Cazenove* as bookrunner of the placing of property company Helical Bar
- JPMorgan Cazenove and Merrill Lynch* as joint sponsors and bookrunners on a rights issue by the industrial company Cookson Group plc
- The Government of Iceland* on a US$2.1 billion recapitalisation of its banking sector
- Smurfit Kappa Group* on its capital raising on the Irish and London stock exchanges (the largest equity funding in the paper sector) - €1.3 billion
- Global generic drugs manufacturer Actavis* on numerous multi-jurisdictional M&A transactions from 2004
