Latham & Watkins has long made diversity and equal opportunity a priority, and the firm’s commitment to supporting women in the workplace is being recognized throughout the industry.
The following organizations have commended Latham’s policies and practices related to women in the firm:
2012 Top Ten Family Friendly Firms
In April, Yale Law Women recognized Latham as one of its “2012 Top Ten Family Friendly Firms” for its leadership in developing and implementing family-friendly practices and policies. According to YLW, the survey looked beyond family-friendly policies that law firms have in place to also assess “the rates at which attorneys in different positions and of different genders took advantage of those policies.”
America’s Women in Business Law
In May 2012, Euromoney Legal Media Group’s inaugural “America’s Women in Business Law” awards celebrated “the achievements of women leading in the legal sector across America.” Latham was named the “Best International Firm for Women in Business Law.” The firm was recognized for supporting “the development of women in the legal profession and providing work/life programs enabling women to pursue legal careers.”
WILEF Gold Standard Certification Award
In June 2012, the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (“WILEF”) selected Latham to receive its Gold Standard Certification Award, an initiative designed to certify, recognize and publicize firms that appoint women to the highest leadership positions within the legal profession. The 50 law firms awarded certification were selected based on criteria that includes a meaningful percentage of women as equity partners, females serving in leadership positions and other benchmarks.
The American Lawyer's 2012 "A-List"
Latham was included in The American Lawyer’s “A-List” firms of 2012, making it the tenth year the firm has been included on the list that “aim[s] to identify firms that represent the industry’s all-around best” by taking into account factors such as “revenue per lawyer, pro bono, associate satisfaction, and diversity.”
2011 NAFE and Flex-Time Lawyers Best Law Firm for Women
Latham also was recognized by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) and Flex-Time Lawyers as a “2011 NAFE and Flex-Time Lawyers Best Law Firm for Women” in a study assessing law firms that “are making it possible for women to succeed by offering programs and policies that support their needs.” The 50 winning firms were selected based on their responses to a survey measuring areas such as workforce profile, family-friendly benefits and policies, flexibility, leadership, compensation, advancement and retention of women.
