PROFILE
Sarah Burack is a litigation and trial associate in the New York office of Latham & Watkins.
Sarah represents a range of clients in the financial, technology, and biopharmaceutical sectors in a diverse array of complex commercial litigations and arbitrations.
Sarah received her JD from Yale Law School and her BA from Harvard University. Sarah previously sat on the firm’s Associate Committee, and maintains an active pro bono practice focused on impact litigation.
While in law school, Sarah was a notes editor for the Yale Law Journal.
EXPERIENCE
Sarah's recent experience includes representation of:
- A technology company in a breach of contract dispute in federal court, resulting in a US$26 million jury verdict
- A Fortune 500 technology company in a post-M&A dispute arbitration, successfully defeating a US$1 billion claim and winning a full US$70 million counterclaim after trial
- Hedge fund Mason Capital in an international investment dispute against the government of Korea, alleging losses sustained due to the state’s wrongful conduct (pending final decision after hearing)
- A NYSE-listed biopharmaceutical developer in two complex arbitrations and ongoing related civil litigations related to various development and licensing agreements
- A global, NYSE-listed financial technology company, in an ongoing insurance arbitration
- A medical device manufacturer in a post-M&A dispute over milestone payments, resulting in a US$60 arbitration award
- SAP SE, in a Philadelphia state court action against ANCILE Solutions, Inc. relating to the licensing of educational software for SAP’s software platform, resulting in the entry of summary judgment in SAP SE’s favor and dismissing ANCILE’s principal breach of contract claim for over US$500 million
- A financial technology company in a successful commercial arbitration arising from a development deal
