PROFILE
Justin Kirschner, a former federal law clerk, is an associate in the New York office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Litigation & Trial Department.
Justin draws on his extensive experience in state and federal courts to represent public and private companies and their officers, directors, and boards on the plaintiff and defense sides of their most complex, highest exposure litigation and investigation matters. Justin’s experience includes:
- Federal securities class actions and related suits
- Shareholder litigation
- Chapter 11 proceedings
- Government and internal investigations and enforcement
- Other complex commercial litigation, including contract disputes and product liability actions
Justin’s clients span a wide array of industries, such as finance, media and entertainment, pharmaceuticals, health insurance, transportation, and renewable energy, and include digitally-native entrants into legacy business areas.
For his work, Justin has twice been recognized with his Latham colleagues by The American Lawyer Litigator of the Week column: in 2022 for winning a unanimous US Supreme Court decision on behalf of ZF Automotive US Inc., and in 2023 for guiding Mallinckrodt plc through their chapter 11 proceedings.
In addition to his commercial practice, Justin maintains a vibrant pro bono practice, in which he concentrates on representing military veterans seeking disability benefits for service-connected injuries. Justin has never missed annual recognition as a Latham Guardian of Justice for his dedication to pro bono service.
Justin is actively involved in the Latham community, where he is a member of the Recruiting Committee, a mentor to junior and summer associates, a liaison coordinating Latham’s partnership with the National Veterans Legal Services Program (NVLSP), and a former member of the Pro Bono Committee.
Previously, Justin was a law clerk for Judge Raymond J. Dearie of the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York. In law school, Justin was a student-attorney in Georgetown Law’s Appellate Litigation Clinic.
Before law school, Justin was an Emmy Award-winning television journalist at NBC News.
