Mariclaire Petty advises private equity firms and their portfolio companies on sophisticated M&A transactions, frequently involving cross-border elements, across a broad range of industries.
Mariclaire leverages professional experience as a strategy consultant for a major international consulting firm and a solutions-oriented, business-focused mindset to guide clients through all stages of ownership of a portfolio company, including:
- Initial acquisitions and final dispositions
- Add-on acquisitions and divestitures
- Management co-investment in portfolio companies
- General corporate matters
She helps clients identify risks they may face and devises strategies to protect against them. Mariclaire collaborates with clients to understand their commercial objectives and unlocks Latham’s platform to provide comprehensive support on day-to-day issues that arise, including regulatory compliance, executive compensation and employment, and other matters.

- Platinum Equity on its acquisition of a controlling stake in SVP-Singer Holdings and its wholly owned subsidiaries, the world’s largest consumer sewing machine company
Dispositions
- Ortho Clinical Diagnostics on its US$6 billion acquisition by Quidel
- Carlyle and Unison, a provider of procurement, supply chain, and contract management software to US federal government agencies and government contractors, on selling a majority stake in Unison to Madison Dearborn Partners
- Coalfire and Carlyle on Coalfire’s acquisition by funds advised by Apax Partners
