Amy Hargreaves, San Diego Local Litigation & Trial Department Chair, helps clients navigate internal investigations, False Claims Act defense, and compliance-related matters within the healthcare industry.
She assists clients within the healthcare industry with internal investigations, government investigations, OIG and CMS self-disclosures, compliance program development, and referral source/HCP relationship advising.
Amy spends the majority of her time defending her clients against False Claims Act qui tam investigations and litigations.
Her clients include large hospital systems as well as medical device and pharmaceutical companies at varying stages of development.
Amy has advised clients on a wide range of compliance issues, from the proper structuring of physician arrangements, to the development of compliant billing and coding processes, to the development of pharmaceutical and medical device promotion practices.
EXPERIENCE
Amy's experience includes representing numerous healthcare clients in the following areas:
- Conducting investigations for large healthcare entities, including hospital systems, surgery centers, medical foundations, medical device companies, and other healthcare related entities
- False Claims Act qui tam investigations and litigation for large healthcare provider clients including Sutter Health, Tenet Healthcare Corporation, and United Surgical Partners International
- Referral source/Healthcare Provider relationship advice and consulting on various topics including industry and government guidance, Medicare and Medicare Advantage regulatory schemes, Stark Law, and Anti-Kickback Statute
- Compliance program development
- Development of medical device promotional practices
