PROFILE

Alex Grabowski represents clients in complex patent litigation, with particular emphasis on pharmaceuticals and process chemistry.

Alex draws on his background in chemical engineering and extensive  experience to help clients navigate litigation involving patents covering:

  • Drug products
  • Chemical technologies
  • Electromechanical technologies
  • Medical devices

Before joining Latham, Alex was an IP associate at another global law firm, where he advised clients on industrial machinery, petrochemical, and consumer product patent litigation and prosecution, as well as copyright litigation.

He maintains an active pro bono practice, including successfully representing a client in an asylum proceeding in immigration court.

EXPERIENCE

Alex’s experience includes representing:

  • A brand-side pharmaceutical company in securing a verdict of infringement after a bench trial in Hatch-Waxman litigation related to patents on its epinephrine product
  • A pharmaceutical company in securing a preliminary injunction and settlement after seeking to enjoin the state of Nevada from using its products in lethal injection 
  • A process chemistry company in securing sanctions and a settlement following accusations of patent infringement by a competitor*
  • A pharmaceutical company in securing a judgment of non-infringement following accusations of patent infringement*
