PROFILE

Sean Newhouse is an associate in the London office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Complex Commercial Litigation and International Arbitration Practices.

His experience spans a broad range of disputes and regulatory inquiries, including litigation before the English Court of Appeal and Commercial Court, international arbitration proceedings under the auspices of the LCIA and ICSID, and competition investigations before the UK Competition and Markets Authority and European Commission.

He has advised clients across a range of industry sectors, including technology, fashion, energy, and construction.

Prior to joining Latham, Sean worked as a professional orchestral conductor in North America and Europe.

  • A European fintech company and its founder in relation to litigation in the Commercial Court
  • An American investment firm regarding litigation risk relating to an acquisition of media assets
  • A European industrial conglomerate and its Saudi Arabian subsidiary concerning commercial agreements and litigation risk
  • An American private equity firm in an LCIA arbitration regarding an investment dispute
  • Ukraine in an ICSID arbitration commenced by Gilward Investments BV, an alleged investor in the aviation sector (Gilward Investments BV v. Ukraine)
  • Farfetch on merger and competition law aspects of an agreement to acquire a 47.5% stake in YOOX Net-a-Porter (YNAP) and for Richemont and YNAP to each adopt Farfetch Platform Solutions 
  • An international software company on its responses to an investigation by the European Commission
  • An international technology company on its response to an investigation by the UK Competition and Markets Authority
