PROFILE
Drew Roberts is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice.
Drew primarily handles patent litigation. His experience includes representing clients in a variety of venues, including suits in federal district court, inter partes review (IPR) proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and proceedings outside of the United States.
He advises clients on a variety of matters, particularly for patents related to medical technologies and pharmaceuticals.
In addition to his intellectual property practice, Drew maintains an active pro bono practice, including representing individuals seeking asylum, disabled veterans, and clients seeking to seal old criminal records.
While in law school, Drew served as the lead articles and notes editor of the Texas Environmental Law Journal and a staff editor for the Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal.
Prior to attending law school, Drew performed post-baccalaureate research at the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Drew graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS in Physics and Political Science, as well as a minor in Mathematics.
EXPERIENCE
Drew's experience includes representing:
- An internationally renowned vision company in a copyright and patent case involving cataract laser surgery products, including proceedings in the District of Delaware, before the PTAB, and in foreign venues, which resulted in a favorable settlement
- A leading pharmaceutical company, in the District of Delaware, as the plaintiff of patent infringement claims against a competitor
- A leading pharmaceutical company, in the District of Delaware and in foreign venues, as the plaintiff against infringing generic competitors, which resulted in favorable settlements
- A major technology company in its IPR challenges against a competitor before the PTAB
- A pharmaceutical company, in the District of New Jersey, as the plaintiff in Hatch-Waxman litigation against a generic competitor, which resulted in a favorable settlement
- A major medical device company in its intellectual property diligence for the acquisition of another company
- Pro bono clients including asylum seekers and veterans
