PROFILE

Ashley Nguyen advises clients on transactions across the energy and infrastructure sector.

Ashley draws on broad experience in US and cross-border energy and infrastructure transactions to guide companies, private equity firms, and venture capital investors on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, and joint ventures across the energy and infrastructure industry, including in the oil and gas, petroleum chemical, renewables, and energy transition sectors.

Ashley’s experience prior to joining Latham includes serving as in-house counsel for BHP in its Houston, Singapore, and Mexico City offices. While there, she supported BHP’s entry into Mexico in the first-ever joint venture with Mexico’s national oil company.

Ashley serves on the Board of Directors and as Board Secretary for CanCare, Inc., a nonprofit that provides support services to cancer patients and their caretakers.

Renewables and Energy Transition

  • HIF Global, an international electrofuel company, on its equity raise and investment from each of MOL, Idemitsu, and Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security into HIF Global
  • Orsted on a joint venture with Skyborn Renewables, a Global Infrastructure Partners portfolio company, relating to the South Fork Wind and Revolution Wind offshore wind farms
  • AB Carval on its US$700 million equity investment in and debt financing for Peregrine Energy Solutions LLC, an integrated multi-technology clean energy platform with a focus on utility-scale energy storage
  • Chevron U.S.A. on: 
    • A joint venture with Microsoft, Schlumberger, and Clean Energy for a bioenergy with carbon capture and sequestration project designed to produce carbon-negative power in Mendota, California
    • A joint venture with Bunge Limited for renewable feedstock plants in Destrehan, Louisiana, and Cairo, Illinois
  • Amp Americas on:
    • Acquiring waste-to-carbon-negative renewable natural fuel assets from Generate Capital, as well as on Generate Capital’s associated investment into Amp Americas
    • Acquiring a waste-into-carbon-negative renewable natural gas and electricity assets from Vitol

  • Pacific Drilling on a pre-arranged chapter 11 restructuring to address over US$1.1 billion of funded debt obligations and other legacy liabilities
