PROFILE

Reilly M. Nelson is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Corporate Department and Environment, Land & Resources Practice. She focuses on environmental and energy regulatory compliance and the regulatory aspects of complex corporate and finance transactions in the energy, infrastructure, and industrial sectors.

Reilly advises a variety of clients, including developers, lenders, and corporate clients, in variety of transactions, including M&A, capital markets offerings, and project financings. She has counseled clients on complex transactional matters involving onshore wind facilities, solar energy projects, direct air capture facilities, battery energy storage facilities, and sustainable industrial businesses. She provides strategic guidance on matters involving the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA or Superfund), Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and Clean Air Act.

In addition, Reilly maintains an active pro bono practice working with environmental nonprofit founders to develop environmental justice programs and apply for federal funding. She also represents transgender clients in name and gender marker change petitions.

Reilly received her JD from UCLA School of Law, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif and received the Masin Family Academic Excellence Award for her academic achievement in Business Associations. She also served as the business manager of the UCLA Law Review, participated in the Frank G. Wells Environmental Law Clinic and the California Environmental Legislation Clinic, served as a writing advisor for UCLA Law’s legal research and writing program, and served two terms as the communications director for the UCLA Environmental Law Society.

Prior to joining Latham, Reilly was a legal intern for Los Angeles Waterkeeper. Prior to law school, Reilly served as the director of grants and finance administration at a law and policy research center based at UCLA School of Law and as director of compliance at a franchise company.
