PROFILE

Zach Shufro is an associate in the New York office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Data & Technology Transactions Practice.

Zach counsels public and private companies, financial institutions, private equity firms, and emerging companies on intellectual property, technology, and commercial contract aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including cross-border transactions and complex carve-outs, as well as corporate financings. Zach's work to date has spanned a variety of sectors, including luxury retail, software, travel, manufacturing, healthcare, Internet services, education, and commercial products.

Prior to joining Latham, Zach worked as a law clerk at a boutique firm, where his experience included looted art litigation before the United States Supreme Court and representing collectors in dealings with major European auction houses and artist foundations. Before that, he was a summer associate in-house at a fashion company, working predominantly in transactional intellectual property and commercial contracts.

While earning his LLM, Zach served as the professional development chair of the NYU Art Law Society and as a staff editor on the Journal of Intellectual Property and Entertainment Law, in which he co-authored and published a Note on art authentication and white collar crime titled “Risky Business: Fraud, Authenticity, & Limited Legal Protections in the High Art Market.”

While in law school, Zach served as an associate justice on UNC Law’s Holderness Moot Court, and captained the team which competed in the 2020 Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition. He also served as symposium editor on the Journal of International Law and Commercial Regulation. Zach was awarded Order of the Barristers and was recognized for his extensive volunteer work through the school’s pro bono program.
