PROFILE
Zainab Hashmi is a corporate associate in the Houston office of Latham & Watkins.
Zainab advises public and private companies and private equity funds on a range of strategic domestic and cross-border transactions. A versatile corporate lawyer, Zainab’s practice includes:
- Public and private mergers, acquisitions, and dispositions
- Private equity transactions
- Initial public offerings, underwritten equity and debt offerings, and private placements
- Structured finance, including asset-backed securitizations
- Corporate governance matters
At Latham, Zainab is a member of the firm’s Recruiting Committee and the Women’s Lawyers Group.
Zainab maintains an active pro bono practice, representing individuals seeking asylum, expungement, or sealing of juvenile criminal records, as well as counsels in guardianship and estate-planning matters.
Zainab attended Harvard Law School, where she received Dean’s Scholar Prizes in Advanced Corporate Transactions and Federal Taxation. While attending law school, Zainab worked as a legal extern at the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office and mediated cases in small claims court as part of her clinical courses. She also served as vice president and treasurer of the Harvard Women’s Law Association and as a line editor for the Harvard Journal of Law and Technology and the Harvard Journal of Law and Gender.
Prior to law school, Zainab was an international tax accountant at a public company in Houston. Zainab also holds an active CPA license in Texas.

- H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies in its business combination with RMG Acquisition Corporation
