PROFILE

Sam Wong is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins.

Sam predominantly advises clients on the regulatory aspects of energy and infrastructure litigation and transactions, including wind, solar, battery storage, hydrogen, and carbon capture and sequestration projects. He also works on matters involving electric generation, transmission, distribution, and energy storage and has assisted clients by analyzing issues under the Federal Power Act, Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act, Public Utility Holding Company Act, and RTO/ISO tariffs and rules affecting the domestic energy industry, as well as federal, state, and international environmental laws.

Before joining Latham, Sam clerked for the White House Council on Environmental Quality, the US Department of Energy, the Sierra Club, and the Natural Resources Defense Council.

Sam received his JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School with a certificate in Energy Management & Policy. During law school, he served on the editorial boards of The University of Pennsylvania Law Review and The Regulatory Review, was president of the Environmental Law Project, and advised the university and the law school on issues relating to climate, energy, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Prior to law school, Sam worked as a paralegal for high-profile discrimination and sexual harassment cases and was a competitive aerialist.
