Max Grant Named District of Columbia IP Litigator of the Year

Award recognizes outstanding achievements in the past year — successful cases, notable client wins and innovative approaches to the law.

Managing Intellectual Property selected Washington, D.C. partner Max Grant as the D.C. IP Litigator of the Year as part of the publication’s 2016 North American Awards program recognizing outstanding achievements including successful cases, notable client wins and innovative approaches to the law. Grant was honored for his achievements as lead counsel for InterDigital in a trial asserting three patents against ZTE Corp. in which the jury found all claims infringed. He also represented intervener Cross Match in the Suprema v. ITC en banc Federal Circuit rehearing which affirmed issuance of an ITC exclusion order based on contributory infringement. In addition, Grant was recognized for securing dismissal of a patent case in Texas against Acacia for Schlumberger after successfully arguing a motion to disqualify all in-house and outside counsel and for representing NVIDIA in several high-profile cases.  

Grant led Latham & Watkins’ Intellectual Property Litigation Practice as Global Co-chair from 2009-2014, a period during which the group more than doubled in size and won the Chambers USA Award for Excellence. He has tried over 20 patent cases and is recognized as an experienced and innovative first chair trial lawyer.
