Two New York Litigators Earn Recognition as “Rising Stars”
The New York Law Journal has named litigation partners William Reckler and Benjamin Naftalis to its 2016 “Rising Stars” list, which features leading New York lawyers under the age of 40. Naftalis and Reckler, who both advise on white collar defense & investigations and securities litigation, were recognized for their work in a range of high-profile matters involving diverse industries. According to the New York Law Journal, Reckler and Naftalis are among an “impressive group of attorneys” who exhibit “first-rate legal skills, judgment, creativity and dedication to the profession.”
Reckler, who serves as Co-chair of the New York Litigation & Trial Department, was credited with “oversee[ing] and lead[ing] the practice’s largest and most high-profile matters for both billable and pro bono clients.” For instance, the publication cited his representation of CrossFit, a health and fitness company, in a prominent false advertising and unfair competition lawsuit against a key competitor, as well as his extensive experience advising on regulatory inquiries, civil suits and investigations involving the financial services sector. The New York Law Journal also noted Reckler’s distinctive track record in pro bono and civic matters, which includes currently serving as counsel to the Rikers Island review commission.
Naftalis, a former federal prosecutor, was recognized for his broad range of work encompassing “internal corporate investigations, civil litigation, cybersecurity matters and other sensitive situations that occur within the U.S. and the international community.” Among his notable efforts, the New York Law Journal cited Naftalis’ recent representation of Pacira Pharmaceuticals in a First Amendment action brought against the Department of Justice and the FDA that resulted in a groundbreaking settlement for his client. The coverage also noted that Naftalis secured high-profile victories while serving in the Southern District of New York’s Criminal Division, including notable investment fraud cases.
