Partner Cathy Birkeland Named to Chicago Business Journal Women of Influence List
Corporate partner Cathy Birkeland has been named to the Chicago Business Journal’s 2018 Women of Influence list, which recognizes women across the Chicago metropolitan area who have made an impact both personally and professionally in their community. Birkeland is the Managing Partner of Latham’s Chicago office and a former Global Co-Chair of the firm’s Capital Markets Practice.
In a profile published by the Chicago Business Journal, Birkeland shares some insights into her role at Latham, her approach to career development, networking, and mentoring, as well as the charitable organizations about which she is passionate.
Birkeland’s practice focuses on capital markets transactions, public company representation, corporate governance, and advising boards of directors on corporate matters. In addition to her busy practice and leadership roles within the firm, Birkeland dedicates significant time to mentoring junior lawyers and is passionate about supporting the firm’s commitment to diversity. She has served on the firm’s global Diversity Leadership Committee and was one of the founding partners of Latham’s annual Women’s Leadership Academy. Birkeland is the first female to serve as Chicago Office Managing Partner.
