Counsel Kimberly Eney Appointed to Prestigious NYU Law Center Board of Advisors

Counsel Kimberly Eney has been appointed as a member of the Board of Advisors to the National Center on Philanthropy and the Law (NCPL). Founded in 1988 at the New York University School of Law, NCPL “explore[s] a broad range of legal issues affecting the nation’s nonprofit sector and . . . provide[s] an integrated examination of the legal doctrines related to the activities of charitable organizations.” Using NCPL’s guidance, nonprofit organizations, students, and lawyers worldwide can explore issues and solutions around philanthropy and the law. 

Eney joined Latham in 2018 as a member of the firm’s Tax Department where she represents tax-exempt organizations, supporting Latham’s commercial and pro bono work in the tax-exempt space. Before joining Latham, she spent over a decade advising nonprofits with one of the country’s leading tax-exempt organization lawyers. At the firm, she continues to advise nonprofits on relevant tax and corporate laws, including the formation and application for exemption process, the Chapter 42 excise tax regime applicable to private foundations, earned income strategies and the unrelated business income tax, affiliate relationships, compensation practices and the intermediate sanctions regime, the public support test, and the rules on lobbying and campaign activity. She also advises on board governance matters.
