Latham Again Among the Litigation "Fearsome Foursome"

October 1, 2020
Annual BTI Consulting report notes that "ferocity is cultural - a natural ability to hone in on the key issues and approach for any circumstance - and then pounce."

The BTI Consulting Group’s 2021 Litigation Outlook report has once again named Latham & Watkins as one of the best of the best among leading litigation firms in the United States, naming the firm to its exclusive "Fearsome Foursome" list. The recognition puts Latham as one of only four firms that “top legal decision makers do not want to see on the other side of the table in litigation" and notes that "counsel opposite The BTI Fearsome Foursome often change their strategy and approach when they see these firms on the other side.”

In naming Latham to the list, BTI's Michael Rynowecer noted that Fearsome Foursome firms offer "consistency in the face of seismic change," adding that "ferocity is cultural - a natural ability to hone in on the key issues and approach for any circumstance - and then pounce."

In addition to the overall rating, Latham was recognized as a leader in Cybersecurity Litigation, and a standout in Complex Commercial Litigation

On the recognitions, Litigation & Trial Department Chair Michele Johnson said, "While we are always honored to receive this recognition, this year’s award is particularly fitting given 2020’s challenges. We have had an outstanding year in the courtroom—winning a slew of novel, bet-the-company, and high-profile cases—while also caring for our colleagues and clients through unprecedented times. As our fearsomeness has yielded important victories for our clients around the world, it is equally important in our pro bono efforts, where those same ferocious litigators are fighting social injustice and inequality."

Latham's Litigation & Trial Department is comprised of more than 800 litigators located in 25 major business centers in the US, Europe, and Asia. Latham is one of the few firms capable of providing clients with immediate, high-quality legal advice anywhere in the world, whether our clients' needs are local or multijurisdictional. The firm's trial lawyers have a remarkable track record of success trying both civil and criminal cases in courts around the world, trying or arbitrating more than 350 cases to a verdict, with an extraordinary winning percentage, in the last decade.
