Latham & Watkins was named US Law Firm of the Year and recognized for advising on three Deals of the Year at the IFLR Asia-Pacific Awards 2024. The firm was shortlisted across 18 categories and transactions in total.
The awards program celebrated “the most legally innovative cross-border deals closed in the region during 2023 and the teams and individuals behind them.” The award-winning deals on which Latham advised include:
- Debt & Equity-linked Deal of the Year: NIO Convertible Bonds. Latham advised Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, CICC, and J.P. Morgan, as initial purchasers of US$1 billion in convertible senior notes issued by NIO Inc., a leading Chinese smart electric vehicle company.
- Equity Deal of the Year: J&T Express IPO. Latham advised J&T Global Express Limited on its US$500 million initial public offering and listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange with a weighted voting rights structure. The transaction represented the second-largest IPO on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2023 (excluding over-allotment option).
- Loan Deal of the Year: Adani Group Refinancing. Latham advised Adani Group on the refinancing of its LBO financing for its acquisition of Ambuja Cements. The transaction refinanced senior and mezzanine acquisition facilities worth up to US$3.5 billion.
