Andy Gass Named 2024 IP Vanguard Award Honoree

February 7, 2025
California Lawyers Association
Bay Area partner recognized for his contributions to the practice of intellectual property law by the California Lawyers Association.

Bay Area partner Andy Gass has been named the 2024 IP Vanguard Award Honoree in the Firm category by the Intellectual Property Section of the California Lawyers Association (CLA). This award, given only in years in which decision-makers at the CLA conclude that a worthy recipient can be identified, honors legal professionals in the judiciary, private practice, in-house practice, academia, and public policy advocacy for their contributions to the advancement of intellectual property law. Gass was put forward for the prestigious Vanguard Award not by the firm, but by third parties based on his public achievements — a testament to his professionalism, collegiality, and outstanding reputation. Honorees are chosen from numerous nominations and only after a rigorous process involving thorough debate and discussion, ultimately culminating in a vote to select one recipient — or, in some circumstances, none — to receive the award.

Gass stands at the forefront of intellectual property litigation, shaping complex laws across the digital media landscape, from AI to music and beyond. When the highest-stakes issues in copyright and competition law arise, clients across industries turn to Gass to lead the matter — from legislative advocacy, to deal-making initiatives, through all phases of litigation.

Gass will be presented with the award at the 48th Annual IP Institute on March 8, 2025.
