Pro Bono Team Advises on Nonprofit Education Partnership

March 18, 2025
Partnership seeks to increase access to education in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In Sub-Saharan Africa, only one in 10 children completes secondary school. To help increase access to education, PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) recently partnered with Impact Network, which works to provide access to quality primary education in rural Zambia. Together, the nonprofits will educate more than 200,000 students annually across 375+ schools in Zambia, Uganda, and Ghana. This partnership will not only allow students to transition seamlessly into secondary school but will also strengthen the nonprofits’ ability to deliver impactful, evidence-based programs in both primary and secondary education.

Latham represented PEAS in negotiating the structure and terms of the cooperation agreement and amalgamation/merger. Both PEAS and Impact Network seek to increase access to affordable, high-quality secondary education in rural Africa, with a particular focus on underserved communities and girls.

Led by partner Dan Mun, the Latham team included partners Bora Bozkurt, Karl Mah, Katherine Rocco, Max Hauser, Josh Friedman, and Ghaith Mahmood, counsel Shaun Thompson, and associates Isabella Wong, Michael Syku, Nathan Wages, Ransel Potter, and Jeremie Ruiz.
