American College of Trial Lawyers Inducts Partners Max Grant and Joe Serino

Latham & Watkins LLP is pleased to announce that Litigation & Trial partners Max Grant and Joe Serino were recently inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers (College). The College is composed of preeminent members of the trial bar from the US and Canada and is recognized as the leading trial lawyers organization. A limited number of nominees who have demonstrated “the very highest standards of trial advocacy, ethical conduct, integrity, professionalism and collegiality” are invited to join the College. Grant and Serino’s inductions into the College further solidifies their reputations as among the nation’s most formidable trial lawyers.

A former Global Chair of the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice, Grant has tried more than 25 intellectual property cases to verdict throughout the United States, including in Arizona, California, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Texas, Utah, Virginia and the International Trade Commission, and has argued more than a dozen appeals in the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has secured high profile wins for companies large and emerging, including NVIDIA, Schlumberger, Adobe and Monsanto. Before joining Latham, Grant served as a Navy SEAL team leader and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations.

Serino has tried to verdict or final award more than 40 cases, including jury and bench trials, administrative law trials, and arbitrations. In those matters, Serino has appeared in federal and state courts throughout the US, courts administered by various state law regulators, and arbitral tribunals around the world. Serino has cultivated a diverse complex commercial litigation practice, successfully representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of contract, tort, antitrust, securities and bankruptcy matters.

College Fellowship is extended by invitation only and only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers of diverse backgrounds who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Membership in the College cannot exceed 1% of the total lawyer population of any state or province and lawyers must have a minimum of fifteen years trial experience before they can be considered.
