American College of Trial Lawyers Inducts Litigation & Trial Partners Jamie Wine and Adam Perlman
Latham & Watkins LLP is pleased to announce that New York Complex Commercial Litigation partner Jamie Wine and Washington, D.C. Intellectual Property Litigation partner Adam Perlman recently were inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers (the College) during the College’s annual meeting in Chicago, Illinois. The College is recognized as the leading trial lawyers organization in North America. It is dedicated to maintaining and improving the “standards of trial practice, professionalism, ethics, and the administration of justice.” Fellowship is extended by invitation-only and membership is limited to trial lawyers who are “unquestionably and eminently qualified” and regarded as the best in their state or province. Their inductions recognize Wine and Perlman among the nation’s most elite trial lawyers.
Wine, former Global Chair of the firm’s Litigation & Trial Department and former member of the firm’s Executive Committee, is an esteemed trial lawyer who has tried numerous commercial, environmental, and pharmaceutical disputes for public companies, major financial institutions and other leading organizations. Her recent trial victories include winning a US$666 million award for a Fortune 500 company, and securing a complete defense victory of an alleged US$1 billion post-M&A dispute claim. She also won a high-profile and precedent-setting victory for the US Soccer Federation (after being retained to replace prior trial counsel), obtaining dismissal of the equal pay claims alleged by the US Senior Women’s National Team.
Perlman is a nationally recognized first-chair trial lawyer who represents clients across a range of technologies and industries including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology/biologics, medical devices, computers, and financial services. He regularly serves as lead counsel in major patent litigation matters in district courts throughout the United States as well as before the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has successfully represented some of the world’s leading brand-name pharmaceutical companies in complex Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) matters and has tried numerous cases involving pharmaceuticals with annual sales in the billions of dollars.
Throughout the summer of 2021, Wine and Perlman tried two cases together for a public life sciences company, leading cross-practice and cross-office trial teams in disputes where several hundreds of millions of dollars are at stake.
College Fellowship is extended only after careful investigation, to those experienced trial lawyers of diverse backgrounds who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Membership in the College cannot exceed 1% of the total lawyer population of any state or province and lawyers must have a minimum of fifteen years trial experience before they can be considered.
