Antitrust Practice Called "Elite" in Global Competition Review's Washington, D.C. Survey

Global Competition Review has selected Latham & Watkins' Washington, D.C. antitrust practice as one of the "Elite" – its highest ranking – in its latest look at the D.C. antitrust landscape. GCR said that "the team at Latham & Watkins LLP has done nothing but impress," noting the firm's handling of significant matters. GCR pointed to the team's involvement in "two of the five US multi-district antitrust class actions, multiple complex merger filings and several cartel cases" and added that "no case was more representative of the team’s year than its defence of pharmaceutical company Lundbeck in the FTC’s challenge of its completed purchase of a smaller rival. The court last year found that the FTC failed to define a market and dismissed the case after a full trial on the merits – one of the few agency merger challenges to progress to that point."

In its story, GCR noted that "Margaret M Zwisler, Michael G Egge and senior litigator Abbott 'Tad' B Lipsky Jr" feature prominently in the practice.
