Chicago Partners Recognized As Notable Gen X Leaders in Law
Chicago partners Gary Axelrod, Roderick Branch, and Terra Reynolds have been named to the 2022 Notable Gen X Leaders in Accounting, Consulting and Law list by Crain’s Chicago Business. The program recognizes industry leaders who are members of Generation X and who have made significant contributions to their field.
Gary Axelrod, Global Chair of Latham’s Hospitality, Gaming & Leisure Industry Group, represents some of the biggest names in hospitality, leading hotel, resort, and gaming property sales, acquisitions, development, financings, ownership, and management and gives strategic counsel to real estate private equity sponsors and funds, institutional investors, operating companies, REITs, and entrepreneurial developers globally. In addition to advising on multi-billion dollar transactions, Axelrod is active in the Chicago area, currently serving as a board member for the Anti-Defamation League Midwest and previously sitting on the board for the Chicago Chapter of Spark, which provides life-changing apprenticeships to youth in underserved communities. For the past decade he has been a key member of Latham’s mentoring program for associates across practices and offices, giving advice and helping them advance their careers.
Roderick Branch, Deputy Office Managing Partner of Latham’s Chicago office and a member of the firm’s Capital Markets Practice and Latin America Practice, is a leading advisor to public and private companies and investment banks seeking to access the US debt and equity capital markets, especially from outside the United States. He has advised clients on some of the largest and most innovative cross-border deals involving counterparties in the US, Latin America and Europe. In his role as the Chicago office’s Deputy Managing Partner, Branch is responsible for the management and continued growth of one of Latham’s largest offices, which includes more than 200 lawyers who provide a full spectrum of transactional and litigation capabilities. He is also active in helping advance opportunities for more junior attorneys, including leading Latham’s International Visiting Associates program, through which top associates from law firms and corporations around the world, particularly from Latin America, join Latham full-time for approximately 12 months.
Terra Reynolds, Global Vice Chair of Latham’s Healthcare & Life Sciences Industry Group and Co-Chair of the Chicago Litigation & Trial Department, advises clients in internal and government investigations and complex litigation matters with a significant focus on defending against allegations of healthcare fraud and abuse laws. She is one of the nation’s most highly-regarded trial lawyers and represents multinational pharmaceutical and medical device companies, market-leading domestic healthcare companies, and individual executives, including before the US Department of Justice, the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General, and the US Food and Drug Administration. Since joining the firm, Reynolds has participated in Latham’s Mentoring Program, helping providing career advice and guidance to junior attorneys. She has also served as an adjunct professor at the Northwestern University School of Law for more than 15 years, and is a member of the Board of Directors for the Northwestern University School of Law and Legal Aid Chicago.
