David Hammerman Named a Rising Star by the New York Law Journal

New York partner in the firm’s Restructuring, Insolvency & Workouts Practice honored as one of the region's most promising lawyers.

David Hammerman, a partner in the Restructuring, Insolvency & Workouts Practice, has been named a Rising Star by the New York Law Journal as part of its annual Professional Excellence Awards. The Rising Star awards recognize the region’s most promising young lawyers who demonstrate strong leadership qualities, lead high-profile litigation or transactional work, contribute to the improvement of their institutions, and commit themselves to pro bono, charitable, and professional volunteer work.

The NYLJ noted Hammerman’s client work “at the helm of high-stakes transactions across industries experiencing significant financial distress, including retail, energy, and coal. In the last year, he represented Total E&P USA, Inc. in its purchase of a material portion of Cobalt International Energy Inc.’s assets in Chapter 11 proceedings."

Hammerman also maintains an active portfolio of pro bono matters, including representing Holocaust survivors in connection with reparations programs. He works with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), playing a leading role on individual matters. Within the firm, Hammerman has served in management roles as a member of the firm’s Recruiting and Mentoring Committee. He is a member of Latham’s Training and Career Enhancement Committee, an education program for younger lawyers, as well as the firm’s Parent Lawyers Group.
