Firm Honored by Longtime Pro Bono Client
At its Going the Extra Mile 2024 benefit, Whitman-Walker honored Latham’s contributions to its clients, primarily members of the LGBTQIA+ community as well as those living with or impacted by HIV and AIDS in the Washington, D.C. area. Latham lawyers began working with Whitman-Walker in 2001. Since then, the firm has provided thousands of hours of free legal services to Whitman-Walker clients.
Whitman-Walker encompasses several organizations dedicated to advocacy, support, research, and education in the D.C. community. Each year, these organizations provide a range of services, including medical care and health-related legal support, to more than 20,000 individuals and families in the area.
“Together, Latham and Whitman-Walker have helped immigrants, asylees, and individuals wishing to change their names and documents to match their gender identities,” said partner Patrick English, who has led the firm’s relationship with Whitman-Walker for over a decade. “We at Latham are deeply grateful to Whitman-Walker for everything it does to support the LGBTQIA+ community in Washington, D.C.”
