Latham places #1 in Antitrust Litigation category and garners a range of top rankings.

For the eighth consecutive year, Latham & Watkins’ global Antitrust & Competition Practice has ranked among the Top 10 “Global Elite” firms featured in Global Competition Review (GCR)’s “GCR 100” report. Latham ranked #1 in the publication’s inaugural Litigation category, again placed in the Top 10 for Mergers, and earned a number of market-specific accolades.

The firm earned the top Litigation spot by “outpacing all of its counterparts in private litigation,” according to GCR, which pointed to the firm’s government experience and global platform as particular strengths. Latham, one of the market’s “titans of antitrust law,” played a lead role in 30 notable cases last year, including a high-profile effort to secure a milestone victory for the London Metal Exchange in antitrust litigation brought in US federal court. In addition, GCR cited Latham’s recent representation of a number of industry leaders in a wide variety of competition matters.

In merger clearance matters, GCR highlighted Latham’s work in “massive deals” such as Actavis’ US$73 billion acquisition of Allergan. During the research window, Latham’s team handled 42 deals valued at US$1 billion or more, with GCR noting “companies sought out the team for its specific competition expertise.”

Reflecting the team’s global footprint, Latham fared strongly in local market surveys, earning “Elite” rankings in California and Washington D.C., “Outstanding” in Brussels, and “Recommended” in France, Germany and the United Kingdom.

The 2016 “GCR 100” report was based on analysis of more than 300 competition law firms around the world.
