Latham Advises Boys & Girls Club of Venice in Merger With Metro La Club

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles and Boys & Girls Clubs of Venice (BGCV) have announced that they have merged. Latham & Watkins LLP represents the Venice club on a pro bono basis in the transaction, with a Chicago-based team led by corporate partner Christopher Drewry, with associates Jake Wasserman, Megan Staub, Daniel Robinson, and Lou Jeffers. Advice on the matter was also provided by partner Benjamin Rosemergy on employee benefits and partner Rene de Vera and associate Chris Ohlgart on tax.

“We all at Latham are thrilled to have assisted the Venice club with this combination, and we look forward to the club’s continued growth and success in serving the youth community of Venice as well as the broader Los Angeles community,” said Drewry.

Latham worked diligently with the Venice club from 2019 through 2020, but the planned combination came to an abrupt and necessary halt at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The clubs renewed their conversations in 2021 and are pleased to announce their combination today.
