Latham Honored for Advising on Restructuring and Structured Finance & Securitisation Deals of the Year
Latham & Watkins was honored for advising on two Deal of the Year winners at International Financial Law Review’s (IFLR) annual Americas Awards. According to IFLR, the awards program recognizes “the most legally innovative cross-border transactions that closed in 2021,” highlighting work that “set precedents, broke new ground, added to the legal toolkit and brought clarity to regulatory frameworks.”
The winning deals are:
- Restructuring Deal of the Year: Hertz Global – Latham advised Barclays, as agent under US$1.8 billion of first lien revolving, term and letter of credit facilities, and as ABS counsel to Deutsche Bank, as agent under a US$4.5 billion variable funding fleet financing facility, in the workout and bankruptcy of Hertz Corporation.
- Structured Finance and Securitisation Deal of the Year: Chilean electricity tariff receivables securitization – Latham advised Goldman Sachs & Co. as the sole global coordinator, bookrunner, initial purchaser, and commitment provider in Chile Electricity PEC SpA’s US$489 million offering of its Series 2021-1 Zero Coupon Senior Secured Notes due 2028.
The firm was also nominated for one Law Firm of the Year and six Team of the Year awards, and shortlisted on 15 Deals of the Year.
