Global Competition Review
In the leading competition publication’s annual review of the strongest antitrust practices around the globe, the firm dominated in every category, ranking second across all specialties.

Latham’s Global Antitrust & Competition Practice has risen to second in the world on Global Competition Review’s (GCR) annual Global Elite ranking, a “comprehensive, annual listing of the world’s best competition practices.” The firm has earned a spot on GCR’s Elite ranking every year since its inception with the 2025 edition marking Latham’s 17th consecutive appearance on the leaderboard.

Ranked second across every antitrust category — merger control, cartel, non-cartel, and private litigation — Latham is one of only two firms to have secured a top-three spot in every specialty. GCR highlighted the team’s resounding success, noting, “Latham & Watkins is often involved in the world’s most high-profile and complex deals.”

“To be recognized among the world’s top two elite antitrust teams, and doing so across the competition spectrum, showcases not only our unmatched breadth and depth but also the consistency and the excellence we bring our clients,” commented Michael Egge, Global Chair of Latham’s Antitrust & Competition Practice. “We’ve proven over and over that Latham is the right firm to take on the bar’s most high-profile, multi-jurisdictional matters. I am incredibly proud of our team and excited about the continued impact we will make on the global stage for our clients.”

The 2025 GCR report also includes the publication’s ranking of practices in key antitrust jurisdictions. Latham’s Brussels team bumped up to the publication’s highest regional designation, joining the firm’s France and California-based groups in the Elite tier and underscoring Latham as the top antitrust destination. Latham’s UK team also advanced, joining the firm’s Washington, D.C. group in the Outstanding tier. Meanwhile, Germany, New York, and Spain held steady in the Highly Recommended category.

GCR further spotlighted Latham’s impressive cartel work and described the firm’s antitrust litigation practice as “among the strongest in the world.” The publication also noted the groundbreaking work being done in the firm’s private litigation team in California, cementing Latham’s well-deserved rise to second place globally across all categories.
