Latham Leads in Latin America M&A Deals Through H1 2024
Latham & Watkins was the top international legal advisor for M&A transactions in Latin America through the first half of 2024, according to Latinvex, a leading Latin America business publication focusing on the region’s legal, energy, and technology sectors.
Over that period Latham advised on 12 M&A deals in Latin America worth a combined US$4.8 billion, leading all firms in both deal count and value, including advising:
- Energy Capital Partners in its US$2.555 billion take-private acquisition of Atlantica, a sustainable energy infrastructure company with significant operations in Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay
- Grupo Financiero Galicia on the US$550 million acquisition of HSBC’s Argentina business, which includes more than 100 branches and provides banking, asset management, and insurance services
- GIP on its sale of renewable assets to Engie Brasil Energia, which was the region’s largest renewables M&A transaction during the submission period at the time of its announcement
- Almar Water Solutions and Transelec in their US$600 million acquisition of a 144-kilometer seawater impulsion system from Minera Centinela
Earlier this year Latinvex ranked Latham as the top international law firm in Latin America for both corporate/M&A and energy work in the region.
