Latham Named Among Best Law Firms for Women

July 1, 2021
Seramount
Firm has made the list for 13 consecutive years.

For the 13th year in a row, Seramount, formerly Working Mother Media, has named Latham to its annual Best Law Firms for Women report, which commends US law firms that use “best practices in recruiting, retaining, promoting, and developing women lawyers.” Criteria for making the list include the percentage of female lawyers, mentorship programs, and succession planning at the firm. Latham also maintained its spot in the company’s Hall of Fame, which honors firms that have been on the list for at least 10 years. Latham is one of only 10 law firms to have achieved such longstanding recognition.

“We are profoundly thankful to Seramount for this recognition of our firm's unwavering commitment to advancing women in the legal profession. Over the last year, our women lawyers were able to meet the unprecedented challenges of client demands and advancing their business development efforts in an almost entirely virtual environment with determination and innovation. We are proud of the individual and collective success that our women lawyers have earned this year,” said Mary Rose Alexander, Global Chair of Latham's Women Enriching Business Committee.

Kem Ihenacho, Global Chair of the Diversity Leadership Committee, said: “We are delighted to be named a “Best Law Firm for Women” for the 13th year. Recruiting, retaining, and progressing the best legal talent means creating an environment in which all lawyers, including women and those with caregiving responsibilities, can advance to the highest levels at our firm and in the legal profession.”

Lisa Watts, Vice Chair, said: “As a leader who is dedicated to advancing DEI and supporting the success of all of our people, I could not be more proud of the firm’s inclusion in the Hall of Fame once again. The partnership is dedicated to the success of female and parent lawyers through unique programs and policies that foster leadership skills, mentorship, community building, and a culture of inclusion, and we are honored to have our efforts recognized.”
