Latham Named Capital Markets Practice Group of the Year
Latham & Watkins once again received Law360’s Capital Markets Practice Group of the Year award for 2018. The annual awards “honor the law firms behind the litigation wins and major deals that resonated throughout the legal industry in the past year.”
In a feature article, Law360 noted that Latham is “no stranger to big moments on major stages in the public offering space,” and the firm “has made a name for itself by steering numerous high-profile listings.”
In particular, Law360 highlighted Latham’s representation of Spotify in its historic direct listing on the NYSE, saying the deal was a “crowning achievement not only for Latham, but for the entire market in 2018.” Law360 also noted Latham’s work guiding London-based online luxury fashion retail platform Farfetch Ltd. in its highly successful US$884 million IPO and Siemens AG in the US$5.2 billion IPO of its medical technology unit, Siemens Healthineers AG, the second largest German IPO since 2000 and the largest European healthcare IPO on record. In addition, Latham represented the underwriters in connection with the public offering of American Depository Shares (ADS) and Nasdaq dual listing by German biotechnological company MorphoSys AG. The complex deal was one of the first true dual listings by a German company in the last decade.
Latham is poised for another strong year in 2019, with Law360 saying, “the firm’s understanding of its clients’ industries, and a deep bench of securities, regulatory and intellectual property practices, combined with long standing relationships with major global investment banks, allows Latham to consistently stay ahead of the pack.”
