Latham New York Office Co-Deputy Office Managing Partner Named to Crain’s Notable Black Leaders List

Nicole Fanjul recognized by Crain’s New York Business for her exceptional professional achievements, leadership, and fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion, and community service engagement.

Nicole Fanjul, Co-Deputy Office Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins’ New York Office, has been named to Crain’s New York Business’ 2024 Notable Black Leaders List for her exceptional professional achievements, leadership, and fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion, and community service engagement. Crain’s said that the list, “celebrates Black New Yorkers’ success and advancement spanning industries, from law and finance to non-profits and the arts."

A member of Latham’s Banking Practice, Fanjul represents lenders and corporate borrowers in a variety of complex financings, with a particular focus on syndicated leveraged finance and direct lending transactions. She has advised on some of the most complex and high-profile acquisition financings in recent years, including guiding the lenders in Zendesk’s US$10.2 billion acquisition — the largest private debt-backed leveraged buyout at the time by debt size.

The first Black Deputy Office Managing Partner of Latham’s New York office, Fanjul spearheads a DEI working group that formalizes connection and collaboration on firm diversity initiatives and co-founded the Council of Black Leaders in Finance.

Fanjul also maintains an active pro bono practice, frequently advising on immigration matters and aiding immigrant domestic violence survivors under the Violence Against Women Act. She is a board member for The Acceleration Project, a nonprofit that boosts economic development by deploying local professionals to assist small businesses within their communities, and President of Rye County Day School’s Alumni Executive Board, which encourages philanthropic support and prioritizes efforts relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
