Latham Projects Recognized Among Standout Work in Latin America

Latin Lawyer, a leading source of news, analysis, and research for the Latin America regional legal community, has recognized multiple matters Latham advised on at its 17th annual awards ceremony held in São Paulo.

The firm was credited for providing counsel on two “landmark Latin American deals and cases”:

• M&A (private) Deal of the Year – GIP buys LatAm renewables group Atlas from Actis: Latham represented Global Infrastructure Partners in its acquisition of Atlas Renewable Energy, the second-largest independent renewables developer in Latin America with 14 fully contracted solar assets that produce 2.3GW of installed capacity across Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and Uruguay.
• Pro Bono Project of the Year – Trevor Project’s Mexico Expansion: A Latham team helped the LGBTQ youth suicide prevention nonprofit The Trevor Project launch in Mexico, which marked the first time in the organization’s 25-year history that it has offered crisis counseling to individuals outside the US.

Several other deals Latham advised on were shortlisted in their respective categories:

• Project Finance: Infrastructure – Latham advised on the largest-ever financing for a 4G toll road in Colombia
• Disputes – Latham secured a total victory for the GICOM Consorcio in a multi-billion dollar international arbitration over the construction of a Brazilian hydroelectric plant, Latin America’s largest
• Regulatory – Latham advised Honeywell International and its subsidiary on a global FCPA resolution with US and Brazilian authorities
• Private Equity – 
  • Latham represented the lenders in GNL Quintero’s Acquisition Financing
  • Latham advised Telefónica on the sale of the largest fiber optic network in Chile to KKR
