Latham & Watkins Advises Origis Energy in Project Financing for Optimist and Wheatland Projects
Origis Energy, one of America's leading renewable energy and decarbonization solution platforms, today announced the close of a US$533 million construction/term, bridge loan, and letter of credit facility with MUFG Bank, Ltd., a leading global financial group, to support an aggregate 350 MWac in solar capacity and 50 MW of energy storage capacity under construction for the Optimist Project, to be located in Clay County, Mississippi, and the Wheatland Project, to be located in Knox County, Indiana.
Latham & Watkins LLP advised Origis Energy in the transaction with a project development and finance team led by New York partner Kelly Cataldo. The project development and finance team included New York partner Warren Lilien, and associates Dominique Roth* and Alexan Stulc. Advice was also provided on tax matters by Houston partner Jim Cole, with associate Jared Kawalsky; and on hedging matters by New York partner Yvette Valdez, with associate Naffie Lamin.
