Latham & Watkins Advises Perplexity.AI in Acquisition of Spellwise

Perplexity.AI (Perplexity), the builder of the world's first generally available conversational answer engine that draws from credible sources in real-time and directly answers users' questions with sourcing and citations, has announced it acquired Spellwise, an artificial intelligence-powered iOS keyboard application and AI writing assistant. The acquisition will support mobile product development, as well as better user experience with improved chatbot and search engine powered by generative AI.

Latham & Watkins LLP advised Perplexity in the transaction with a Bay Area-based emerging companies team led by partners Ben Potter and Michael Podolny, with associate Justin Tzeng. This deal follows Latham’s representation of Perplexity in its Series A financing in March 2023.
