Latham & Watkins Hosts First-of-its-Kind AI Academy
Latham & Watkins LLP1 is pleased to announce the launch of its AI Academy, a first-of-its-kind program in the legal industry designed to equip lawyers to navigate the significant changes that artificial intelligence (AI) will bring to businesses across industries and around the globe. Latham’s AI Academy comprises multiple events and training programs throughout the year aimed at different groups, including an inaugural two-day in-person training event for a group of first-through fourth-year associates. The event features immersive, skills-based training at the intersection of AI and the future of global business.
“We are excited to launch our multifaceted AI Academy, beginning with this hands-on associate training, which provides a unique opportunity for Latham’s junior lawyers,” said Michael Rubin, a Bay Area partner, who leads the firm’s AI Task Force and serves as the Global Vice Chair of the Technology Industry Group. “We’re thrilled to leverage the firm’s expertise and resources in this rapidly evolving area to equip our associates – both those that focus on tech and those working in other fields – with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in an increasingly technology-driven world, one that is progressively integrated with AI.”
The multi-pronged AI Academy was developed through a collaboration between Latham’s AI Task Force, Training and Career Enhancement (TACE) Committee, and Technology Department. Sessions employed hands-on and skills-based training to support junior and midlevel associates with cutting-edge expertise in their practice.
“The explosive growth of AI is both exciting and transformative. The training program has been created with our firm and our clients in mind, offering focused training modules, practical workshops, and expert-led sessions,” said Fiona Maclean, a London partner, who serves as Global Vice Chair of the Technology Industry Group and a TACE Committee Vice Chair. “AI will impact every area of law in the future. Whether an associate builds a practice in the tech sector or another industry across Latham’s global platform, understanding AI and the ever-evolving tech landscape is crucial for the next generation of legal professionals.”
“No other firm offers such in-depth and comprehensive trainings on AI,” said John Scrudato, Director of AI and Innovation at Latham & Watkins. “In addition to AI’s impact on our client’s businesses, AI is transforming the practice of law, from automating routine tasks to providing sophisticated analytics and insights. The AI Academy is a fantastic opportunity for lawyers to stay ahead of the latest advances in technology and acquire skills that they will be able to leverage in their practice.”
