Latham & Watkins Launches Pro Bono Matter Job Simulation
Latham & Watkins1 has launched its latest virtual Job Simulation with Forage — for the first-time featuring a pro bono legal matter. The complimentary job simulation offers participants the opportunity to advise on the hypothetical incorporation of a nonprofit entity in England and Wales, while gaining insight into Latham’s global pro bono program.
Participants will hone key skills involved in handling pro bono matters as they complete simulated tasks advising their hypothetical client, an organization that helps survivors of domestic abuse prepare for finding employment in the restaurant industry. As participants move through the modules, they will undertake legal research, apply the law with sensitivity and empathy, and condense and summarize complex legal procedures.
Latham is one of the world’s largest providers of pro bono services. Since 2000, Latham lawyers and professional staff have donated more than 4.3 million hours of free legal services — including 239,268 hours in 2022 — to those who would otherwise be denied representation, equality, or justice. Latham’s pro bono program spans the globe, involving colleagues in the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, and encompasses nearly every area of public interest law. The Pro Bono Job Simulation is the ninth program the firm has launched on Forage, an innovative, open-access platform connecting users with companies and law firms. It joins Latham Job Simulations for Antitrust & Competition, Banking, Capital Markets, Emerging Companies, Intellectual Property Litigation, Mergers & Acquisitions, Restructuring & Special Situations, and White Collar Defense & Investigations. Each simulation immerses participants in navigating legal issues in a transaction or litigation matter.
To date, nearly 80,000 individuals, across 169 countries, have participated in Latham’s virtual job simulations. More than 38% of participants are first-generation professionals.
