Latham & Watkins Leads Latin America M&A in Q1 2019

Latham & Watkins was the top legal advisor on M&A deals in Latin America in the first quarter of 2019, according to Latinvex. The firm’s market-leading Latin America Practice achieved this result by advising on a wave of major M&A transactions and equity investments in the region during the first three months of the year, including representing: 

• Spanish multinational telecommunications company Telefónica on the sale of all of its Central America operations to Millicom and América Móvil
• IPSCO Tubulars on its sale to Tenaris, a manufacturer and steel pipe producer with operations in South America
• Dragoneer Investment Group in connection with its equity investment in Latin America’s leading e-commerce technology company, MercadoLibre 

In the first quarter of 2019, Latham handled more than US$86 billion in announced M&A transactions worldwide, representing principal entities or financial advisors in more than 90 public and private deals.
