London Partner Mark Austin Receives CBE in New Year Honours List

Prestigious list marks the achievements and service of extraordinary people across the UK.

London corporate partner Mark Austin has been made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in King Charles III’s New Year Honours list for services to the economy. The CBE is the highest-ranking Order of the British Empire and is awarded to people in recognition of the positive impact they have made in their work.

“We congratulate Mark on receiving this well-deserved accolade, which is a testament to his preeminent reputation as one of the City’s most distinguished practitioners and his outstanding contributions to the economy and the legal profession. His exceptional achievements, tireless commitment, and formidable leadership in the area of UK policy and regulatory law matters have truly set him apart. We are thrilled for Mark and celebrate his many accomplishments,” said Stephen Kensell, London Office Managing Partner.

A recognized leader in his field, Austin advises prominent companies and investment banks on a variety of complex equity capital markets, M&A, and regulatory matters. He also works alongside company executives and industry leaders as an advisor on UK policy and regulatory issues.

He is a member and former Chair of the FCA’s Listing Authority Advisory Panel and a member of the FCA’s Markets Practitioner Panel. He is also a member of the Capital Markets Industry Taskforce, the Digitisation Taskforce, and the London Stock Exchange’s Primary Markets Group. Austin previously advised Lord Hill on the UK Listing Review and in 2021 was appointed by the UK Government’s Chancellor of the Exchequer as the independent Chair of the UK Secondary Capital Raising Review, which reported to the Chancellor in July 2022.

Austin will receive the CBE insignia in at an investiture held by a member of the Royal family.
